Night-ducks

The night is a secret ware—
I’m sold.
Its ceramic cheek browns
to blue. Night-ducks
un-repair the water, how
I broke too
its surface, not even
All my friends are water
signs or else birds
dreaming of lives
as humans.
Whose eyes are toys
the night tenders
to boys. Whose lives
un-render
underwater,
where words won’t go.
