Fiction Reading January 2: Porter Square Books


Please save the date of Monday, January 2nd, 7 p.m. for the Round Table at Porter Square Books, 25 White Street, Cambridge, featuring Salamander and Pangyrus.

Fiction writer and memoirist Joan Wickersham, judge of our 2016 Salamander Fiction Contest, will read for Salamander along with Sonya Larson, presenting her story “Gabe Dove,” the honorable-mention winner.

Joan Wickersham is the author of The News From Spain and The Suicide Index, which was a finalist for the National Book Award. Her fiction has appeared in One Story, Ploughshares, AGNI, and many other publications, and her work has been anthologized in The Best American Short Stories and The Best American Nonrequired Reading. She has written a regular op-ed column for The Boston Globe, and her pieces have run in The International Herald Tribune and on NPR. Joan has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Massachusetts Cultural Council. She has taught writing at Emerson and at Harvard, and currently teaches in Bennington’s MFA program.

Sonya Larson's fiction and nonfiction have appeared in the American Literary Review, American Short Fiction, Poets & Writers,, West Branch, Del Sol Review, and others, and have been honored by Best American Short Stories 2015, the Vermont Studio Center, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference.
